Yup, My ranger has 160hp/210lbft and only weighs 3k pounds. The thing hauls ass, even though the speedometer only goes up to 85 it could easily do 110mph at 4500rpm in 5th gear. It would be scary as hell though. Its not Horsepower, its that magic ratio

Saw one last Sunday in that same colour, but an Exige. Sooo beautiful and so much power to weight ratio! (Elan and Elan 2+2 hiding on the left)

If only there were some convenient references for the power to weight ratios of various cars. Preferably organized by nationality.

Power to weight>power and weight.

As a former ranger owner I do not advise those speeds in said vehicle. The suspension is less than ideal for high speed runs.

That is the end of this public service announcement.

If only it was a standard tech spec listed on a vehicles summary for people to inspect. Obviously those that are concerned about this topic can do the math but I think the general population should be reminded. Like when little Timmy is getting his first car, or midlife wife Suzy. They should easily be able to compare the power to weight of whatever ecobox/overpriced car/truck/van/whathaveyou, just as easily as the options it has.

But then people wouldn't buy the bigger, heavier, more expensive, more profitable cars! It would make too much sense!

I just remembered a fun driving thing I could only do in my ranger. There was an intersection that if you went through going he speed limit (35 mph) you could almost catch air. It was rare because traffic or the red light would always slow me down. They fixed it but that was probably my favorite thing about the ranger.
